Volume 1, Issue 1 |
As we begin our new family, we are trying to develop some family traditions. So we decided a fun way to communicate with our family and friends would be to develop a newsletter. Hopefully it won’t be long and boring and it will give you a glimpse into our lives. In searching for a name for the newsletter we struggled with a lot of options: Puns’ Perspectives, No Pun Intended, Puns’ Ponderings, The PUNchline, etc. We finally settled on The Edge. Why? Well the bottom line is that we think it sounds cool, but we also think it describes our family somewhat. We feel that we have been given really unique opportunities in life and have been given the chance to be on the edge of many things. Sometimes we even wonder if we are teetering on the edge of reality. We know for certain that the best views always come from the edge of the mountains and cliffs. So welcome to The Edge, pull up a chair and try not to fall off! |
Marriage 101
|
Can you believe we have been married for six months? What were we thinking!? Just kidding. We cannot imagine not living together. How did we go so long living in two different states? Our first six months as a married couple have certainly been filled with many adjustments, challenges and a few surprises. Some questions we have faced are...Does syrup need to be refrigerated? At 6pm should we watch the news or the Simpsons? Who will do which chores? Who can swim faster? What shall we have for dinner? How should we plan for our financial future? Some were easy, some had no right answers, and some were really hard. We even had a collision on the football field that nearly put us both in the hospital (and we were on the same team). We have been learning how to live with each other and how to work as a team. These lessons are packed with many components: how to |
encourage each other, how to be less critical and bear with each others’ weaknesses, how to forgive, how to embrace each others’ families as our own….to list a few. Sometimes things seem to come very naturally and effortlessly, while we find that other issues take more work. We really do have a good time together and have a lot of fun. We do not claim to be experts by any means and know we have a lot to learn, but we are enjoying the ride so far! |
